Power surges are sudden, unexpected increases in electrical voltage. They can be caused by storms, by fallen power lines, even by a neighbor’s appliances or nearby business. They strike the average structure more than 2,000 times per year, or 5 times a day. Although you can protect some of your household equipment with plug-in (point-of-use) surge protectors, what about your major appliances? What about your central heating/air conditioning unit, your dishwasher, your refrigerator, your washer/dryer? The major appliances within your household need surge protection as well.
The Hillsdale Board of Public Utilities is pleased to offer a whole house protection program to our customers. This whole house protection program is an economical way to protect your investment.
